The Past You

Parents, siblings, and old friends rarely see past the past version of you. It’s like time stopped and you are still the same age and the same person as their fondest memories of you.

Don’t let their perspective of you alter the present and future versions of you. Change is inevitable, healthy, and normal. Let the past version of you live wildly in their memories, but be strong enough to stand up for the new you (even if they like the past you better).

There is no reason why the same man should like the same books at eighteen and forty-eight.” ~Ezra Pound
